Drostanolone (Masteron) has a high androgenic effect and a moderate anabolic effect. Drostanolone does not aromatize in the body (i.e. it does not transform into estrogen), on the contrary, it is a mild aromatase inhibitor. It has a biological action similar to dihydrotestosterone, as it is a derivative of this hormone.

In medicine, Drostanolone is used as a treatment for breast cancer in women, however, due to the high probability of virilization, it is currently rarely used. Drostanolone is not susceptible to the action of aromatase, meaning there is no way to convert it to estradiol.

It has a good affinity for androgen receptors not only in the muscles, but also in the prostate and scalp, hence the possible side effects: baldness, enlarged prostate, growth of body hair. As a derivative of DHT, it inhibits the activity of estradiol in tissues, therefore, it exhibits indirect anti-estrogenic activity.

Among the psychological effects of this drug is the “motivational boost” for training, much appreciated by athletes who follow slimming diets, when they no longer have the strength and suffer a psychological decline due to the lack of carbohydrates.

Drostanolone is popular in bodybuilding, as it does not cause water retention and has a slight diuretic effect, which improves muscle definition. It can be useful for athletes who want to increase the hardness and density of the muscles, it is mainly used before competition. It allows you to obtain a sculpted athletic shape, thanks also to the fat burning effect of the drug. Practice shows that the drostanolone cycle can reduce fat mass by 5-10% compared to the initial state.

Drostanolone has a low anabolic index (compared to testosterone), which is why it burns fat so well, but at the same time increases the risk of androgenic side effects: aggression, acne, baldness, prostate hypertrophy and virilization in women.

The optimal effect of the drug is achieved when using a dosage of approximately 300-500 mg per week. People undergoing hormone replacement therapy can use it to reduce SHBG, since in terms of side effects, it increases the amount of free testosterone in the blood. For these purposes, use 75 to 200 mg of the drug per week, it is believed that drostanolone is more easily detected in doping controls than other steroids.
